JEFF BARNHART'S BRITISH BAND "The World On A String"

Jeff Barnhart is perhaps best known in England as the piano half of the Fryer-Barnhart American duo who have visited UK for several years. At Bude 2002 Jeff led an all-star band - Enrico Tomasso trumpet, John Hallam clarinet and saxes, Paul Munnery trombone, Jeff Barnhart piano, Roscoe Birchmore bass and Nick Ward drums. The tunes on this, their first CD, recorded live at Upton-Upon-Severn in September 2002 are:- As Long As I Live, Royal Garden Blues, Love Me Or Leave Me, Shine, A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, There's Gonna Be The Devil To Pay, Ain't The Gravy Good, I Would Do Most Anything For You, I've Got The World On A String, I Want To Be Happy, Delta Bound, After You've Gone. THE KEN COLYER TRUST NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BAND "It's All Down To You"

This CD is the result of many fans of the band coming forward over the last year and suggesting tunes they'd like the band to record. The line-up is (almost) the band's regular one - Allen Beechey cornet, Alan Robinson clarinet, Len Baldwin trombone, Pete Morcom banjo, Micky Ashman bass and Malc Murphy drums. The tunes, many with strong Colyer associations include:- Collegiate, Dusty Rag, My Blue Heaven, 1919 March, Carolina Moon, Harlem Rag, The Lady Is A Tramp, Postman's Lament, If Ever I Cease To Love, Yearning, Savoy Blues. (70 mins)

THE WABASH JAZZMEN "Bye And Bye"

This is the 7th album by the Wabash Jazzmen and in many ways I think it's their best. The line-up is changed slightly from their last two CDs - Ged Hone cornet, Mike Pembroke tb, Mike Hayler cl & tenor sax, Mark Challinor bjo and Howard Worthington bs. This is the band's first studio recording but that in no way impairs their natural driving swinging style. The tunes include:- Algiers Strut, Bye And Bye, At A Georgia Camp Meeting, Make Me A Pallet On The Floor, I'm Going Home To See My Lord, Avalon, Oh You Beautiful Doll, Royal Telephone, Precious Lord Take My Hand, Pontchartrain Blues, Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody, Goodnight Sweet Prince, Over In The Gloryland, I'll Always Be In Love With You, Down In Honky Tonk Town. (73 mins)

MADDOCKS-HUXLEY REEDS UNITED "Top of the League"

Here is the first CD on P.E.K. by this formidable musical partnership. George Huxley and John Maddocks are without doubt among the top handful of clarinet players in the country and, when they joined forces at the 2002 Bude Jazz Festival, the result, as you can hear, was sensational. The rest of the band is Simon Banks piano, Geoff Over banjo, Stuart Gledhill bass and Barry Norman drums. The tunes are:- Swing That Music, Mood Indigo, Isle Of Capri, As Tu Le Cafard, Creole Song, I Found A New Baby, Lonesome Blues, Hiawatha Rag, Trog's Blues, Weary Blues, Sleepy Time Gal. (75 mins)
